AMANDA BANKER

BIO

Amanda Banker (b. 1979) was raised in Corrales, NM where she spent her childhood making short animated films and feverishly drawing cartoon characters. She soon discovered oil paints and spent the next few years developing a portfolio in fine art.

Banker received a Bachelors of Fine Art from California State University Fullerton, where she focused on Entertainment Arts and Animation. During this time, Banker mastered both traditional illustration and computer animation, eventually leading to pitching storyboards to Disney, Nickelodeon and Pixar. After graduation in 2004, Banker began freelance storyboarding, character design and illustration—ultimately developing her unique style.

After a decade in the animation industry, Banker returned to New Mexico and to her love for oil painting. She has participated in numerous prestigious international residencies including Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado and Quarantine, Purgatory for Artists in Menorca, Spain.  Banker has since been published extensively and widely exhibited in the United State. Her work is included in several important private collections across the globe and is held in the permanent collection of the Albuquerque Museum.
